Spring 2009 High School Tours to Serve over 50 Communities!
There will be High School Pay It Forward Tours departing from places across the country periodically between February and June. Tours are leaving from Elgin, IL; Detroit and Dearborn, MI; Portland, OR; Dickinson, ND; and more. Students across the state of Minnesota will have their next opportunity to go on a Tour in June!
High School Tour possesses dynamic components.
This Pay it Forward Tour is 5 days, and fits the needs and desires of the schools. It is a great way to partner with area schools and learn from other high school students. Buses leave from one school and travel to 4 different cities—serving 4 unique projects. The last city is the celebration city, or the Tour’s end destination. For weeks with multiple Tours, the celebration city is the first time the buses unite. It is amazing to see hundreds of young people in the same color shirt doing one massive, joint service project. In addition, buses also tour two college campuses during the trip. A standard day includes the following (visit specific Tour page to download an itinerary for your Tour):
- Service Project in the Morning
- Lunch with the Community Served
- College/University Tour
- Bus Travel in the Afternoon to Next City
- Potential Tourism in City
- Evening Activities and Reflection
- Spend the Night (with the exception of the celebration city which are spent in a hotel, participants sleep in gyms, community centers, churches, etc)
Projecting 35 buses in the 2008-2009 school year.
This year’s High School Tour growth is exciting, as more students from more places will have the experience of a Tour! The High School Pay It Forward Tour program started with just 1 bus in April 2006, and grew to 10 buses during the 2006-07 school year, and to 23 this past school year.
The High School Tour Program in 2008-09 alone will serve over 100 communities and over 14,000 service hours. Tours will be departing throughout the year from schools across the Midwest, Chicago area, Detroit/Dearborn area, and the Pacific Northwest.

Registration for the High School Pay It Forward Tour can be done either through this website with Online Registration, or by downloading the registration packet and either mailing to STLF or turning it in at your school.
